Scholar Life

We believe it is important to honor scholars for acts of good character so, at the end of each trimester, we select six scholars who have demonstrated each of the six principles of community: respect for the dignity of each individual, compassion to treat others with kindness, honesty, intellectual curiosity, stewardship of the environment, and courage to do the right thing.
We believe by highlighting acts of good character at school, this program will promote character education throughout our community. Scholars are nominated for each award by other scholars, teachers, and friends of the school. At the end of each trimester, selected girls receive a trophy. They will be featured on our website as well.
Coming in August, 2010!
In addition to physical education instruction, we hope to offer competitive cross country running, basketball, and volleyball to our scholars beginning in our second year of operation.
All scholars must have a completed immunization record on file before they can enter school. At school, we teach good eating habits, the importance of exercise and sleep, and the elements of wellness.
At CCSG, service learning plays a significant role in developing young women into tomorrow’'s community leaders. Every Friday throughout the year, each grade enters the community to serve. Service partnerships are long-lasting and grade-specific. Our community service is tied to our study of world topics that are also grade-specific. These service opportunities help scholars see the issues surrounding community, sustainability, human rights, and leadership. All service is supported across the curriculum in the classroom.
We believe an honor code helps children understand the importance of honesty, integrity, and respect. We aim to help our scholars know and understand collective expectations. We expect all scholars to sign a pledge to be honest to themselves and others, to conduct themselves with integrity and to respect others’ work, belongings, and feelings. First violations of honor code result in detention and a conference with the student, parent, and Head of School. Further violations will likely result in expulsion.
